MJC Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in April 2023, to support boys and girls who have an extreme passion to play basketball. Scholarships are provided to deserving youth who want to enter a basketball program but face challenging financial hardships. The organization was created in honor of Mekhi Jamal Clemons, who passed away September 21, 2022, at 26 years old.
Mekhi was a gifted, talented and passionate athlete. He started playing basketball in 4th grade with the Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball Travel team. He joined the Perkiomen Valley High School Basketball team and went on to play for Rosemont College from 2014-2018. He led the Ravens in scoring, was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference's All-Conference and graduated as the winningest player in Rosemont basketball history.
After college, Mekhi joined the Norristown Knights as a semi-professional in the American Basketball Association. In 2020, he joined the East Coast basketball league as a player on Red Rose Thunder. He was a spectacular player who amazed fans with his moves, dunks, double-handed blocks and 3-point shots. Mekhi brought joy to everything he did on the court and was loved by his teammates.
